A New Vision of Contemporary Erotic Photography
When we think about the word “erotic”, immediately connotations of sex, explicit content, and perhaps something dirty or to some extent forbidden to be fully seen comes to our mind.
But is it really so? I believe that erotic imagery spans beyond sex and can cross well-established boundaries and associations. It provokes us, it pierces us, it arouses us. The idea of what photography does to us instead of what it is, is the exciting part about the medium and I find it incredibly important to support this genre and make a pathway for it in visual culture.
Exposure to such imagery has a freeing effect; it allows us to freely imagine and project our unconstrained desires. We all have them but tend to hide them too much. Now, it’s time to give space to our real selves, and that is something Discarded Magazine encourages from the very beginning.
For now, we are presenting you with an online exhibition of the artists selected for our upcoming first print issue. It’s a teaser – one artist, one image – to make you crave more… We, therefore, invite you to enjoy this small presentation before you dive into print. Immerse yourself in censorship-free erotic imagery, let your imagination go loose and crazy.
myKINK Magazine report on Art Within Fetish

In August, the Berlin curator Lilith Terra dedicated an entire exhibition to the fetish. We visited the opening, spoke to the artists and saw exciting performances. If you are in the Berlin kinky art scene, you cannot ignore Lilith Terra. The photographer and curator is one of the most important contemporary fetish artists in German-speaking countries. In August she opened the exhibition “Art within Fetish” at the location “Unter Urban” in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where she showed works by six artists.
When we met Lilith at the opening, she introduces us to the artists personally. Jo Pollux, who is known to many as a queer feminist photographer, is present, Johnny Welch and Christian Condiva also exhibit, as well as the two newcomers Azrael Black and Cat van Susan. Numerous guests look at the works, the artists either answer questions directly or can be found enjoying a drink at the bar. Chris Steinweg and Charlotte Spitzner are also there and present the new book “Voyeur.Berlin.Kinky” by them and Gili Shani (we reported in issue 90 and on my -kink.de). An exciting supporting program was also provided. Performance artist Danilo Andrés presented an impressive movement choreography, Jeanette Månsson presented a performance reminiscent of Matthew Barney. The Hamburg collective XelK showed action painting with a latex opera singer and the rigger unbound.berlin gave a bondage show at the end.
The selection of works on display ranged between sensual, mysterious black and white photographs, collage-like image installations and art photographs reminiscent of urban art. In between there was a colorful mix of kinky people who were able to cast an artful and astute look into the world of fetish in the vaults of the “Unter Urban”. On the following pages you will find a portrait of the two artists Cat van Susan and Azrael Black, whom we got to know personally at the opening. More will follow in the next issues!
