Dear,
The "Spring Selection" is an eclectic group exhibition curated by Guinchi at the illustrious Untergeschoss der Pandora gallery. This exhibition delves into the multifaceted layers of contemporary society, exploring themes ranging from the impact of social media fame on young individuals to the implications of colonialism and a dystopian future. Within you'll encounter thought-provoking artworks that reflect upon the complexities of our world.
The Price of Fame // Delving into the phenomenon of instant celebrity culture, this segment explores the experiences of individuals catapulted to fame through platforms like Instagram and TikTok at a young age. Through poignant visual narratives, artists confront the consequences of fame on mental health, the role of family and friends in navigating newfound stardom, and the often-overlooked challenges faced by young influencers.
Colonialismus and Dystopian Visions // Artists in this section confront the legacy of colonialism and envision dystopian futures shaped by historical injustices and contemporary global challenges. Their works serve as poignant reflections on power dynamics, cultural identity, and the precarious balance between progress and exploitation.
The Human-Animal Relationship // Examining humanity's complex relationship with animals, this thematic area invites viewers to contemplate the ethics of pet ownership and the consequences of human intervention in animal breeding. Through sculptures, installations, and multimedia pieces, artists shed light on the blurred boundaries between compassion and exploitation, raising questions about our role as stewards of the natural world.
God, Religion, and Society // Exploring the intersections of faith, societal norms, and individual identity, artists in this segment offer diverse perspectives on spirituality and its influence on human behavior. From abstract meditations on divine transcendence to critical examinations of religious institutions, these artworks challenge viewers to reconsider their beliefs and societal constructs.
Veganism and Consumerism // In an era of heightened awareness about dietary choices and environmental sustainability, this section interrogates the commodification of veganism and the complexities of ethical consumption. Through satirical installations, provocative imagery, and critical commentary, artists confront the contradictions inherent in mainstream vegan culture and consumerist tendencies, prompting viewers to reflect on the true costs of convenience.
As curator, I've selected works that invite exploration, reflection, and engagement with the pressing issues of our time. I hope this exhibition sparks meaningful conversations and inspires new insights. Thank you for joining us.
Your curator,
Guinchi

The dark forces, occult magic or secret ceremonies exert a strong attraction and awaken the unconscious in us. Aleister Crowley, Nikola Tesla and Kenneth Anger have been a source of inspiration for many filmmakers, regardless of whether they believe in occult theories or not. And cinema and music are probably the media that go best together with subconscious vibrations. Moreover, the graininess of analogue film as well as some digital editing and expressive tonalities open the field for associations of the viewer.
Our contemporary world, with the need to defend democracy, to fight for rational politics and against “alternative facts” and conspiracy theories almost doesn't allow any more to indulge in dark mythologies. This new dogma of always having to be realist, and fighting for the rational politics in democracy, may be one of the reasons for the increase of irrational right-wing tendencies and the power of subversive attacks on civil society. Perhaps it is people like Abby Warburg who show that appreciating dark myths does not mean you have to be reactionary or even irrational. Images have there own truth and connect with a different kind of consciousness. Thus, let's dive into a world of dark suns and electric propulsion.

We are interested in the metaphorical significance of spaces, in the tension between inner and outer, conscious and unconscious. How can mental and physical sensitivities be symbolically expressed. And how much of the invisible can the obvious point to.
